Hordes Day

Well, Saturday saw Ben host a Hordes day as our Women folk had decided to meet up for shopping and we didn't fancy that, and so Ben, Sam, Luke and I faced off with each of the main Hordes forces represented.

I was using the day as an opportunity to learn how to play the lists that I'll be using for the Hull Tournament. the two lists were:

Borka Kegslayer (*5pts)
* Troll Axer (6pts)
* Rรถk (11pts)
Trollkin Fennblades (Leader and 9 Grunts) (8pts)
* Trollkin Fennblade Officer & Drummer (2pts)
Trollkin Long Riders (Leader and 2 Grunts) (7pts)
Feralgeist (1pts)
Horthol, Long Rider Hero (5pts)

And

Jarl Skuld, Devil Of Thornwood (*6pts)
* Swamp Troll (4pts)
* Troll Impaler (5pts)
* Dire Troll Bomber (10pts)
* Trollkin Runebearer (2pts)
Krielstone Bearer and 5 Stone Scribes (4pts)
* Krielstone Stone Scribe Elder (1pts)
Sons of Bragg (6pts)
Trollkin Scattergunners (Leader and 5 Grunts) (5pts)
* Trollkin Scattergunner Officer & Drummer (2pts)
Saxon Orrik (2pts)

Now, I've changed casters a fair amount lately and amended list composition so I was almost starting from scratch with these.

My first game was against Sam's Everblight, and frankly, I discovered that the Borka list isn't the best for Break the Line as I need numbers for that. It also made me realise that I don't fully follow the rules for Cavalry, which didn't change much during the next game with Ben.

I think I took on Xerxis in game two, Ben, correct me if I'm wrong, and again I took Borka. The game was Throw Down and although I'm more optimistic about the Borka list here, I need to get my head around them as for some reason I just am not clicking with them at present.

The last game was against Luke's Circle army (Luke and Circel seem to go together for some reason). He used pKaya and I reverted to Jarl. Trying to take on three objectives is a bit of a stretch, so I think I need to concentrate on Caster killing. Eventually I did manage this thanks to a nice early Magic Bullet from an Impaler and Jarl's two pistols, but if not, then Luke's speed would have meant that he'd have been far ahead in the race to gaining 7 control points as at the end of turn two he held two and I held none!

We shall see what the tournament holds for the lists, but I think if I can just only lose marginally in at least one game, then I shall count it as a victory.

On another note, Sam and I both had the War Room app to try out, and it seems quite good as long as you have an iPad. The phone is just too small to use it I find, but it made life easier on the big brother!

Finally, Luke (Glamage), fancy a rematch on the Declare your Pair challenge? And anyone else for that matter, I could do with getting some painting done!

  1. I would happily give you a game with my 'Pewter Allergy' wager in place but unfortunately it wont be at the tournament on saturday as I will only be around to watch.

  2. It was Hexeris I used against you, Xerxis tested against Luke. Strangely little coverage of our game....:p
