Syntherion isn't really a caster that caught my attention when I first began looking at the faction. I was really drawn to Axis and Directrix, however now that I am giving him a bit more attention, I can see his merit. Just as well, as without an alternate option for the Journeyman, I will be spending most weeks with him in charge.
We have been permitted to create our own battlebox force if we wish, and although I do like the Cipher, I'm less keen on the Galvaniser and the Mitigator as starter 'jacks for league play involving Mangled Metal. Furthermore, although I would be permitted to add in other 'jacks at later stages, until the final week I would still be locked in to using those three first, before purchasing additional 'jacks. As such I decided a custom battlegroup would be far more beneficial.
My battlegroup will consist of Syntherion, one Assimilator and one Inverter. The amended rules pack states that I may take two heavy jacks, though they must be different, and furthermore at least one must have a ranged attack. To be honest, I am more than happy to comply with this as most of the ranged attacks that Convergence have access to are worthwhile anyway.
I do have a great deal of flexibility though as I have every released faction model, and have one of each 'jack assembled excluding the Monitor, although I do have a model for it. I just need to decide whether to assemble it as that or as a second Inverter and wait until I have the pennies to buy a spare 'jack.
I suppose I ought to at least pretend that I will be painting during this league, so here is a picture of my unpainted battlegroup plus Axis.
Syntherion came with some arm parts missing, and so whilst I wait for their replacements to arrive (it's convention season so I could be waiting a while) I thought I would get Axis painted up.
I shall be chronicling my progress through the league in as much detail as I can remember, so shall share the ups and downs with you. isn't really a caster that caught my attention when I first began looking at the faction.
